Risk and vulnerability of Mongolian grasslands under climate change

چکیده

Abstract Climate change is projected to increase the aridity of semi-arid ecosystems, including Mongolian grasslands (MG), which provide ecosystem services that support food supply and pastoralist lifestyle. Here, we conducted a grid-scale (0.5° × 0.5°) probabilistic risk assessment MG under climate for 40 years (1976–2015) based on probability theory. We evaluated changes (impacts) vulnerability drought between recent two decades R20 = 1996–2015 previous P20 1976–1995. The quantified as product hazardous vulnerability. defined from Standardized Precipitation–Evapotranspiration Index. Mapping vulnerability and conservation adaptation strategies under climate change

Identification of spatial gradients in ecosystem vulnerability to global climate change and local stressors is an important step in the formulation and implementation of appropriate countermeasures1,2. Here we build on recent work to map ecoregional exposure to future climate, using an envelopebased gauge of future climate stability—defined as a measure of how similar the future climate of a re...

Rural Nevada and climate change: vulnerability, beliefs, and risk perception.

In this article, we present the results of a study investigating the influence of vulnerability to climate change as a function of physical vulnerability, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity on climate change risk perception. In 2008/2009, we surveyed Nevada ranchers and farmers to assess their climate change-related beliefs, and risk perceptions, political orientations, and socioeconomic charac...

A Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment of California's At-Risk Birds

Conservationists must develop new strategies and adapt existing tools to address the consequences of anthropogenic climate change. To support statewide climate change adaptation, we developed a framework for assessing climate change vulnerability of California's at-risk birds and integrating it into the existing California Bird Species of Special Concern list. We defined climate vulnerability a...

Accepted Article Climate Variability and Vulnerability to Climate Change: a Review Running Head: Climate Variability and Vulnerability Climate Variability and Vulnerability to Climate Change: a Review

The focus of the great majority of climate change impact studies is on changes in mean climate. In terms of climate model output, these changes are more robust than changes in climate variability. By concentrating on changes in climate means, the full impacts of climate change on biological and human systems are probably being seriously underestimated. Here we briefly review the possible impact...
